With the Turkish transfer window not closing until next Monday evening, Galatasary have apparently made an offer to take Carlton Cole to Turkey.
I think Coley owes West Ham a good season after some of his performances last year, and he has said as much himself, so I think he’s happy to stay at West Ham down in the Championship.
I’d be a bit gutted if he did go. He has started the season well in both scoring and his additional work rate. I’ve spoken before of how infuriating he can be to watch, but he hit the ground running in the Championship and is proving a delightful handful for opposition defences.
I know I’ve bashed Piquionne a bit on this blog, but Coley offers the team so much more, and is a lot younger than Piquionne. If the club needs to save money, why not offer them Piquionne on a free and save on his wages? They won’t be much less than Cole’s, who I read had a pay decrease in his contract when we were relegated. Cole has shown the Irons more commitment than we’ll ever see from a journeyman like Piquionne.
I actually can’t see this transfer happening – Cole went on record as saying he’d only consider the ‘right move’ for him and his family, and that he would prefer to stay in London. So even if the club accept an offer for him – I can see another Stoke scenario happening, in which he refuses the offer himself. After all, the club can’t sell him if he doesn’t want to go.
